Some of the most touted 'organic' pesticides aren't even organic by definition. It's a joke that pest control companies spout off superior service because they use 'green' products and they don't even know what there products are classified.

In the U.S. I'm forbidden from using the word "safe" in my advertising because I'm a conventional exterminator. Use eco products that are NOT registered, tested or even labeled for pest control and you can say safe-green-friendly-etc.etc.

This is a very interesting article and although it relates to the US agricultural sector (I believe where IPM was born), here in the UK there is still some way to go 'outside' of the same sector. I run a Pest 'Management' company here in the UK and am trying to promote the 'integrated' approach to other market sectors with the ultimate desire to reduce my use of pesticides where I can. It's a very 'hard' sell, even though it costs no more than routine pest control protocols (what it does cost though, is a little more time, attention to detail and thoroughness on the part of Pest Control Companies here along with more education for their clients, and herein I guess, lies the 'rub'). I was more than surprised to read a thread on a very well known UK Pest Controllers forum very recently, that some had attended a CRRU education day(Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use)and as a result, were only just amending contracts to include 'monitoring' with non toxic baits in external bait stations. I certainly know of one client who's resistance to 'proofing' in and around his premises leaves no alternative but poisoning. Bring what consequences it may!!

I just realized pest control companies have been using “green” methods before it became cool, per say. I now use an organic pest control company and it’s great because the problem is still solved with out all the harmful chemicals

Very interesting article. I am from Malaysia and I was graduated from Leeds England in Landscape Architecture. Here in Malaysia there
a lot of plants that are naturally repels insect, may be we can share ideas on how to make it be easily used by people. My blog agrobiosolution just tells what are those plants,
