While in Ljubljana at the Workshop on the Impact of the proposed Revision of Directive 91/414 on the sustainability of the European Resistance Management Tool Box (see Conclusions from workshop on impact of pesticides legislationentry below), I had the chance to speak to Dirk Müller-Thederan of the German daily Die Welt, who gave me his take on what he defines as industry’s failure to communicate the benefits of pesticides and the need for a reasoned debate on the issue.

Financial Times: EU warned over cut in number of pesticides

The Financial Times published an article on Thursday 24 April entitled “EU warned over cut in number of pesticides”, in which Brussels correspondent Andy Bounds reported on the potential impact of proposed EU plans to restrict chemical use by farmers in Europe i.e. reducing harvests and preventing farmers from growing key crops in Europe which are most vulnerable to pests.
